TCM functionality begins with Product Data Management (PDM). It provides a controlled and coordinated environment for the definition of, and changes to, standard, configured and custom products. PDM functions as the “gatekeeper” for product information within your TCM array of suites and applications. PDM manages a tremendous amount of information on your products and provides all other TCM suites with the unique views they need to function.

PDM coordinates and integrates creation and change to product and process definitions, including both data maintained internally in TCM like bills and routings, as well as data maintained externally to TCM like engineering drawings and SPC control limits. Real-time availability of this wide breadth of product information provides the foundation for TCM’s support of real-time manufacturing from design to art-to-part. To make all this possible, PDM relies on a number of tightly integrated functions.
